Business Capability Partitions – BIAN Service Domains
This section sets out in more detail the way that the generic BIAN Service Domains are specified and how they can be interpreted in systems implementation. It is broken into four sub-sections:
- The difference between process and capability views is clarified by means of an example that uses example Service Domains.
- The current technique for defining the discrete business role/scope of a Service Domain is outlined.
- Comparing process and capability based solution element re-use
- BIAN Service Domains are ‘elemental’. A technique is provided that is sometimes needed to adapt the ‘generic’ elemental Service Domain specification in deployment.
The last section of this guide describes how the BIAN Business Architecture level Service Domain designs can be mapped to different Systems Architecture views for solution implementation in a range of technical environments.
